today was a rather adventurous day at work. two old ladies were caught doing something nasty via store camera. at first when i heard my name over the PA system, i thought my supervisor was just gonna ask me about security knowledge just to see if i know it since i'm fairly new at work such as what would i do if i saw someone stealing etc.
when i got to the security room, there were these two ladies shaking uncontrollably. they looked like they were gonna have a heart attack any minute. i didn't know what was going on, but i figured, i was just there to observe the whole thing. there's an undercover personnel there too; he was getting their information and he was explaining the consequences of what they have done.
well what did they exactly do? they put a yellow sticker indicating that it's a clearance item, on an item that's not supposed to be for clearance. they were caught on camera that as the other old lady looks out, the other would put the sticker on the other item, which makes it a dollar instead of fourteen bucks (orig. price).
according to the ladies, the store manager from the other branch told them that our branch is having the item that they were gonna buy as a clearance item so might as well go to us than paying it for full price.
when they got to our store, they saw that the item wasn't on the clearance rack so they put the sticker on it. they were caught because when they scanned the item, the price wasn't matching the sticker. i don't exactly if the ladies were caught via surveillance camera first or they were caught at the checkout. but i think they were caught while shopping cause when they were being interviewed in the room, they still had their cart full of unpaid stuff.
the interrogation lasted for about 40 minutes. the ladies were still sticking to their word that they didn't steal; that they weren't thieves. they went on saying that they always buy at our store and having spent thousands of dollars buying merchandise from us, why would they steal an item that's only a dollar.
the room where we sat was really really hot. it was just a small room and even though we had the door cracked open, it was still too hot. the officer said that they won't get arrested or they won't have a police record. it's basically just an SOP and it's just a cautionary thing for them to be careful next time. the ladies were so scared of having a police record.
omy, how could i forget to tell you guys this. okay, so when the officer was asking for information like personal information, the lady who did the changing of the sticker was so hilarious. when she was asked for her height, she said 'i don't know, i'm short' then she stood up. then she was asked for her weight, she said 'i'm 280, yeah i know i'm hella fat' and lastly, she was asked if her teeth were real. she friggen removed her friggen dentures mann and showed to the officer. like seriously woman, holy crap i was laughing my booty off in my head. even the officer chuckled. like seriously? she's gross OMG. why would you do that? i will never understand.
that's basically my story lol. i didn't get to finish cleaning up my area because i wasted so much time inside, but that's okay. i learned new things today and it was so exciting!!
summer school starts again tomorrow. i'll be busier again, but i like spending my time wisely so it's all good. thumbs up for getting more hours at work too! i was called in twice this week already. i'm really saving up for ced's back to school stuff. i want him to start right in high school; i want him to do better and put more effort in school so hopefully the back to school shopping inspires him to take high school more seriously. i'm really excited for him, but i'm scared for him too. as i have mentioned on the previous entry, he can be really naive sometimes and people can take advantage of him easily for that.
i still haven't posted ced's pictures a few days ago. it was my first time using my sister's DSLR so it was pretty exciting so watch out for that.
i hope you guys have a fantabulous week ahead! it's 33 degrees here in TO and feels like 40+ degrees. watch out for cranky people lol!
adios <3
